Condition Report

Amended catalogue description: A vari-coloured gold box, German, probably Hanau, circa 1825, unmarked apart from later French and Tunisian control marks.
The inlaid plaque to the top of the box is secured by a rivet at each of the four sides, however the rivet to the front is missing and the plaque lifts slightly at this point, although it is secure. The cover fits tightly when closed and there is some rubbing to the flange of the body from contact with the cover. There is evidence of a solder repair beneath the cover, at the back left corner. The are isolated light 'dints' to the underside of the cover and medium surface wear to the gilt interior generally. French and Tunisian control marks are present to the upper section of the body and to the back edge of the cover. The box has been tested via XRF analysis and tested as 18ct gold.
