the elongated body with horizontal reeding to the topside and underside, rising to a branch-form handle incorporating the face of an Indigenous Australian male, his flowing beard supporting a group of four bounding kangaroos, the whole with an olive green glaze and contrasting brown and yellow highlights to the figure and animals, raised on three branch-formed feet
signed, dated and inscribed 'Ricketts / Potters / Sanctuary / Mt Dandenong / 1937' to base

Condition Report
Vertical firing crack and associated fine hairline to the centre of the body, running from the top edge downwards into the body approximately 8cm; rattle at this point when tapped, however the body is structurally sound. Fine hairline to the opposing side, running from the centre of the body upwards to toward the top edge - very fine, but visible from the top and underside; rattle to the body in this area when tapped. Extremities generally in good order, with a small loss to the tip of a branch extending from one of the feet. Date, signature and inscription clear.
