Catalogue Notes

Special thanks to Jeanette Hanisee Gabriel for helping to identify the micromosaics as based upon etchings by Bartolomeo Pinelli (1771-1835) of peasants in regional costumes. Engravings from his book La Raccolta di Cinquanta Costumi Pittoreschi, Lorenzo Lazaro alle Covervile, Rome, 1809, were widely used in micromosaics, especially in jewellery.
